Snare wire
To ensure their snare drums are crisp and responsive, Yamaha make their snare wires from high-carbon steel, which is a very strong and rigid material.
Yamaha use a unique design for the plate which holds the snare wires. The plate has a slight bend in it which helps the wires to adhere better to the snare head, when under tension. This allows the snare wires to responds accurately and cleanly to sensitive playing.
The snare cord has a center core of high-strength polyester, and to increase the strength, the core is wrapped with fibers of the same polyester material. The outer surface is very smooth which helps reduce friction and prevent kinks.

SN1425H
For 14” Snare Drums, 25 Strand.
- The wires are made from high carbon steel which gives a crisp and responsive snare drum sound and is strong and rigid.
- This has fuller, richer sound and more volume than the 20 strand version, and has a shorter decay.
- The package includes two (2) snare cords for installation.
SN1410H
For 14” Snare Drums, 10 Strand.
- This is a very unique 10 strand snare wire design which was suggested originally by Steve Gadd.
- There are five pairs of snare wires with a space between each pair, which allows the wires to pull evenly across the head.
- This configuration applies less damping to the bottom head, so the drum shell can fully 'speak'.
- This special high carbon steel snare wire gives a crisp and responsive sound – it has a distinctive, sharp, signature sound.
- The package includes two (2) snare cords for installation.
SN1320H
For 13” Snare Drums, 20 Strand.
- The wires are made from high carbon steel which is strong and rigid, and gives a crisp and responsive snare drum sound.
