[AV Amplifiers] Selecting a Set of Speakers
Last Update: 18-9-2019
There are no objective standard for selecting the best speakers for your system. Results can vary enormously depending on the environment. Ultimately your preference is the main consideration. To find a sound quality that you prefer, you just have to try various speaker combinations with the AV amplifier and compare the results.
The nominal output of the AV amplifier and the input capacity of the speaker are one way to gauge the performance of each product. Realistically, typical home users rarely, if ever turn the volume of the AV amplifier all the way up. And unless the input capacity of the speaker is extraordinarily low, you can freely combine the products without any problem. We also feel that it's possible for you to come closer to your preferred sound quality by changing up the combination.
Regarding impedance, if your AV amplifier has a specified impedance of 6Ω, we recommend using a speaker with impedance of 6Ω or higher. Even if a 4 Ω speaker shows no problems when playing at lower volumes, raising the volume may cause the protection circuit on the AV amplifier to activate, shutting off the power.
