[Home Theater & Audio] The audio communication stops working properly if there is a blackout or the cord is unplugged.

Last Update: 9-9-2019

If there is a blackout or the power is completely shut off from the outlet, the HDMI-CEC synchronization may be temporarily disengaged. In this case, the synchronization must be reestablished. Follow the steps below:

  1. Unplug the power source and HDMI cable of each device.
  2. Leave the devices unplugged for two to three minutes so that they are discharged.
  3. Connect the HDMI cables in the following order: source device (BD/DVD player, set-top box, etc.) -> Yamaha product -> television.
  4. Connect the power supply cords in the same order as step 3 above.
  5. Make sure the HDMI control of the Yamaha device is set to "On".
  6. Use the Setup function on the television to check whether the audio output destination is set to something other than the television speaker, such as the AV system.
  7. Use the television remote control to turn the television power off.
  8. Check whether the power for the Yamaha device turns off with the television.
  9. Use the television remote control to turn the television power on.
  10. Check whether the power for the television and Yamaha device turns on and whether sound comes out of the AV system speakers.

If sound is not output from the AV system after checking the above steps, try the procedure below.

  1. Change the HDMI control of the Yamaha device to "off".
  2. Use the Setup function on the television to change the audio output destination to "television speaker", and then check that sound comes out from the television speaker.
  3. Change the HDMI control of the Yamaha device to "on".
  4. Use the Setup function on the television to change the audio output destination to something other than the television speaker, such as the AV system, and then check that sound comes out from the Yamaha device.

If sound is not output, try using a different cable and check the results. (if using the ARC function for connection) or optical cable (if not using the ARC function) and check the results.
If sound is still not output, please contact Yamaha Support.
