Music Monday

On Monday, May 4th, voices across Canada will join #TogetherInHarmony for MUSIC MONDAY. The Coalition for Music Education’s signature event will look a little different this year, with a virtual event that will allow all Canadians to celebrate at a safe distance. The full day of online music-making will include streaming content that showcases the diversity and creativity of the nation, featuring live performances and special messages from prominent Canadians.

Yamaha has been a premier partner of the Coalition for many years, and this year’s Music Monday highlights the importance of bringing countless music-makers together in these unprecedented times. A new bilingual arrangement of Oscar Peterson’s timeless “Hymn to Freedom” has been created for this year’s festivities, along with the annual singing of the Music Monday anthem.

The broadcast will be available on the Coalition’s website, social media channels, and through partner organisations. It will be accompanied by a series of at-home resources, tools and activities to enhance celebrations and support at-home learning.
