Yamaha and SickKids team up to raise money for little hearts!
Drumathon III
Yamaha Canada Music and Cardiac Kids are teaming up to help raise money for The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Drumathon III will take place on August 14-20 in Burlington, Ontario, as drummer Steve Gaul attempts to break the world record for solo drumming in honour of his daughter, who was born with congenital heart disease.
In 2011, Steve set the world record by drumming non-stop for 121 hours, and raised $70,000 in the process. Starting August 14, he will attempt to set another world record at the Burlington Music Centre in an effort to raise $100,000.
One in 100 children in Canada are born with a congenital heart disease, the most common birth defect. Kids born with CHD usually need surgery to survive, often within the first year of life. Sick Kids Hospital performs 600 open heart surgeries every year, and Steve’s daughter has already undergone three operations. He’s drumming to raise money for her and for all of the children that are being helped by Cardiac Kids.
Yamaha Canada Music is the official sponsor of Drumathon III, providing all of the equipment for the event and donating a portion of all Yamaha drum sales from August 14-20 to Cardiac Kids and the SickKids Foundation. Musicians, supporters, spectators and friends are all welcome to drop by Burlington Music Centre and support Drumathon III. There will be activities for the entire family, and supporters can help Steve reach his goal by donating directly or making a drum purchase.
Contribute to Steve’s effort by purchasing Yamaha drums from an Authorized Yamaha Dealer from August 14-20 or make a donation directly to Drumathon III in support of Cardiac Kids and the SickKids Foundation.
