Four Yamaha Products Receive Awards from Good Design Award 2014

Yamaha Corporation announces that it received Good Design Awards for four of its musical instruments. These were the CX Series of grand pianos, the CLP-500 Series of Clavinova digital pianos, the P-255 of digital pianos, and the STAGEA™ Vitalize Unit for Electone™. Among these instruments, the CX Series grand pianos were selected as one of the GOOD DESIGN BEST 100, which makes this series a candidate for the Good Design Special Awards (including Gold and Grand Award).

In addition, the CVP Series of digital pianos received this year's Long Life Design Award. For about 30 years, since it was first introduced in 1985, this series has been delighting a wide range of performers, from beginners to experienced professionals.

Since 1957, Yamaha's designs have won 265 awards and received many kinds of awards from Good Design Award. All of these winning products have the same fundamental Yamaha design philosophy behind them. This philosophy calls for creating products that realize the goals of "being loved and used for the long term," "gradually increasing in value over time," "having simple designs," and "achieving a balance between carefully selected materials and a beautiful finish."

Award-Winning Yamaha Instruments in 2014

The CX Series of Grand Pianos (GOOD DESIGN BEST 100)
(Launched in December 2012)

The CX Series incorporates much of the technology and sound-creation know-how that Yamaha developed for its flagship CFX concert grand pianos. The CX Series responds to the high expectations of all piano performers, from beginners to experienced professionals. Traditionally, the crafting of the decorative design of pianos was based on architectural concepts. However, the CX Series completely eliminates these concepts and seeks to recreate the piano as a modern instrument with a simple and beautiful design.

The Clavinova CLP-500 Series of Digital Pianos
(Launched in May 2014)

This instrument is the latest Clavinova digital piano model for the home and represents a fusion of Yamaha's traditions and its advanced technology. The CLP-500 Series is designed to look exactly like an acoustic piano, including the legs and other details, and all the instruments in this series have the standard glossy piano finish. The control panel is simple to operate and provides a streamlined space that makes it easy for the performer to concentrate on music making.

The P-255 of Digital Pianos
(Launched in March 2014)

Yamaha's latest digital piano model in the P-255 series was designed with the aim of combining the tone and touch of a real piano with compactness, with a depth from front to back of only 35.1 centimeters. In addition, its rounded form projects the image of a piano. With its artificial leather music stand and other features all in one unit, pianists are able to feel at ease playing anytime and anywhere.

STAGEA Vitalize Unit for Electone
(Launched in April 2014)

Without buying a new model to upgrade existing STAGEA ELS-01, pianists can enjoy the same features as with the latest model by installing a new STAGEA Vitalize Unit. Since this breathes new life into and revitalizes previous models, Yamaha gave this product the name STAGEA Vitalize Unit.

The Clavinova CVP Series of Digital Pianos (Long Life Design Award)
(Originally launched in 1985)

The newest models of the CVP series launched in February 2013

This instrument, a Clavinova digital piano for home use, incorporates a multiplicity of features and is the product of Yamaha's traditions and advanced technology. While it resembles a piano, one of its features is that it perfectly matches living environments. It has a natural tone and real touch, while also offering many enjoyable functions that give rich variety to performances. Over the more than 30 years since its launch, this instrument has delighted a wide range of performers, from beginners to experienced players.
