Yamaha's Band & Orchestral Division debuts the YAS-62III and YTS-62III "New 62" professional saxophones. Ideal for concert band, jazz band & other solo and ensemble settings, these updates to the legendary YAS-62 and YTS-62 professional alto & tenor saxophones feature a newly designed "62" neck for ease of playability and greater control. The new 62's additionally feature a backpack-style case offering contemporary looks and greater ease of transport, as well as a redesigned low B-C# connection, for easy adjustment. Available in lacquered and silver-plated finish options, these models replace the YAS-62 and YTS-62.
The New 62's are targeted towards school-aged and college saxophonists who play in any solo or ensemble setting. Yamaha anticipates high demand – as the current models (both alto and tenor) have been top sellers for more than three decades.

"The professional Yamaha YAS-62 and YTS-62 model saxophones have been the workhorses of the Yamaha saxophone lineup for over 30 years", said Geoff Houghton, Winds Marketing Manager, Yamaha Canada Winds, Strings & Percussion Department. "The durability of construction and quality of sound are legendary. In a cluttered marketplace, the 62 clearly stands out as the best combination of professional features and affordable price."

A favorite among band directors for decades, the 62 model saxophones (and their predecessors, the 61) have redefined the market with superior quality and durability since 1969 (when the YAS-61 debuted) and feature an impressive history. Introduced in 1979, the YAS-62 and YTS-62 saxophones withstood the tests of time and competition and have been in a continual state of improvement since their launch.
The models recently underwent updates in 1994 and 2003 and are now being revamped again for 2013. The technology, craftsmanship and specifications continue to improve while still remaining affordable for school-aged musicians.
"The neck of the New 62 is specifically designed to appeal to a broader range of saxophonists," says Houghton.

"The new YAS-62III and YTS-62III models also feature a newly redesigned B-C# connection that allows for more precise key adjustments. Also, a newly designed case provides extra storage in an outside pocket for music and supplies, along with backpack straps and a shoulder strap for maximum portability."
Slated for shipping in March 2013, the YAS-62III carries an MSRP of $3,595.00. The YTS-62III carries an MSRP of $3,995.00
