Philanthropists, Hans & Helga Gerhardt in Partnership with Yamaha to Donate Instruments to Whitby's Abilities Centre
Yamaha Canada worked closely with philanthropist and author, Hans Gerhardt and his wife Helga Gerhardt, to donate musical instruments to the music ward at the newly built Abilities Centre.
Located in Whitby, Ontario, the Abilities Centre is a fully accessible, state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility that is committed to the development of an inclusive and integrated environment, where respect, understanding, cooperation, innovation, and education form the core values of the facility and the people within.
This universal designed, 125,000 square foot facility houses three full regulation basketball courts surrounded by a 200 metre, six-lane track. Drama, music, art, and life skills programming transpire in the performing arts theatre, music studio, library, and life skills room.
With the donation from Hans and Helga Gerhardt and Yamaha Canada, the Abilities Center received a beautiful upright piano, a portable grand electric piano, recorders, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, junior guitars and many other Yamaha instruments.
