Congratulating the Montreal Drum Fest on its 20th Anniversary

Larnell Lewis and the Rising Star Showcase students.
This October, the Montréal Drum Fest celebrated its 20th year. They’ve showcased drum and percussion talent from around the world and motivated students, teachers, professional drummers and percussion aficionados alike since 1993.

This year’s performance by the legendary Dave Weckl was met with multiple standing ovations and was quite typical of his incredible musicality and technique. Dave performed on PHX drums, the same ones he uses on stage and in studio. Dave’s sequence was opened by a short but blazing performance by the great Larnell Lewis on the Yamaha DTX950K electronic drum system.

On Sunday we hosted our 20th annual Yamaha Rising Star Showcase with 5 of the up-and-coming stars of tomorrow. Selected as the top of the class by their teachers; each student performed a song with a top studio band lead by the magnificent Julie Lamontange.
