Josh Davies

Dr. Josh Davies is a two-time Grammy nominated performer that enjoys a diverse career as a versatile performer and educator. He has performed extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe appearing at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center for the Arts, Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas and Jubilee Auditoriums in Calgary and Edmonton. He has shared the stage with such artists as Byron Stripling, Phil Smith, Ellis Marsalis, Dick Oatts, Rob Smith, Kenny Garrett, Dewey Redman, Chris Murrell, and Fred Wesley, Fernando de la Mora, José Carreras, The Three Mexican Tenors, Alexander Markov, Raúl Di Blasio, Jens Lindemann, Alastair Kay, and Mark Gould to name a few.

Dr. Davies can be heard on numerous recordings including the premier recording of John Corigliano’s Circus Maximus written for The University of Texas Wind Ensemble. He continues to perform with the Orquesta Sinfónica de la UANL in Monterrey, Mexico (co-principal 2009-10), is former principal of the Round Rock Symphony and has appeared with many orchestras including; Austin (Symphony, Chamber Winds, Lyric Opera), Abilene, Brazos Valley, Kamloops, Monterrey (Symphony, Chamber, Metropolitan Opera), Red Deer, Regina, San Antonio Chamber, Temple, and Victoria.

Dr. Davies is professor at the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, AB, Canada where he teaches studio trumpet, jazz history and directs the Uof L Jazz Ensemble. He has held positions at Temple College, University of Texas at Austin, Concordia University (Texas) and Texas State University. Josh regularly presents master classes and performances at universities and festivals throughout North America. He holds a DMA and MMA degrees from The University of Texas and BMus from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
