Teacher Training

The success of any music education program is dependent upon the excellence of the instructors. For that reason, the Yamaha Music Education System (YMES) begins with intense teacher training seminars held annually across the country. All teachers must first be selected by an authorized school to teach the Yamaha group method. Then they must successfully pass the Teacher Candidate Evaluation (TCE) consisting of several Performance and Written tests.

A Study Guide to prepare for the TCE is available upon request from the Music Education Department of Yamaha Canada Music Ltd. Annual update seminars are also held to introduce new classroom ideas and product awareness.

Follow-up seminars conducted by staff show the commitment to support teachers across Canada. The Music Education Department publishes a quarterly “Educationally Speaking” newsletter that keeps teachers and administrators of the Yamaha Music Education System informed.
