Michael Wood

With over three decades as a percussionist and jazz vibist, Michael Wood is equally comfortable on stage, in the orchestra pit, or in the classroom setting. Michael's teaching credits include over 20 years with the University of Waterloo, Directing the Stage Band and instructing Percussion

Michael was part of the famed Stratford Festival Orchestra for more than 30 seasons and has auxiliary percussion credits with Canada's National Ballet and the Toronto Pops Orchestra. He has performed at numerous Toronto theatres: Royal Alex, Hummingbird Centre, Elgin, Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts, as well as the Arts Centre in Ottawa and Kitchener's Centre in the Square. As a clinician, he has toured twice with Saugeen the Ontario Library Services Outreach Program and the Perth Foundation for the Enrichment of Education and has been a featured clinician at the MusicFest National finals week. Michael is past member of the Integrated Arts Advisory Committee of Perth County Board of Education and present recording secretary of the Ontario Percussive Arts Society. Michael plays the YV3710M matte finish bar for jobbing and the YVRD 2700G glossy finish bar for pit work
